¡Hola, hola! ¿Cómo han estado? Ya sé que no he pasado por aquí desde hace rato, mil disculpas!! Pero quiero que sepan que todavía estoy viva y trabajando en mis costuras diariamente :)
Ahora que el 2017 está por terminar, me he tomado un momento para reflexionar en todo lo acontecido durante el año aquí en Casa Magubako. La mayoría de eventos han sido positivos y estoy de lo más agradecida por todo el apoyo, cariño y aceptación a mi trabajo recibidos por parte de mis clientes. Sin ellos el año no habría sido tan especial como lo fué.

I know.. I have not stopped by for a while, my apologies! But I want you to know that I am still alive and working on my sewing projects daily :)
Now that 2017 is about to end, I took a moment to reflect on everything that happened during the year here at Casa Magubako. Most events were positive and I am most grateful for all the support, love and acceptance of my work received from my customers. Without them this year would not have been as special as it was.
Sin embargo, también hubo algunos acontecimientos no tan buenos. Recuerdo especialmente uno de ellos que me trajo de cabeza por un par de semanas. Sucedió lo que siempre temí y uno de mis diseños fué tomado sin mi permiso para ser comercializado a gran escala. Me enteré casi por accidente cuando una de mis clientas me escribió para felicitarme por "mi éxito" creyendo que yo la estaba haciendo en grande vendiendo mi diseño a través de reconocidas compañías a nivel international. La realidad era que no tenía idea que esto estaba ocurriendo.
However, there were also some not so nice events. I especially remember one of them that brought my world upside down for a couple of weeks. It happened what I always feared and one of my designs was taken without my permission to be commercialized on a large scale. I found out about it almost by accident when one of my clients wrote me to congratulate me on "my success", believing that I was making it big by selling my design through well-known retailers worldwide. The reality was that I had no idea this was happening.
Fueron unos días difíciles, pero finalmente acepté el hecho de que siempre habrá alguien buscando la manera de hacer dinero fácil sacando provecho de los demás o de su trabajo. He hecho acopio de toda mi paciencia preparándome para pelear mis derechos, y es triste ver lo difícil que es conseguir justicia en casos como el mío, sobre todo si vas en contra de companías grandes y bien establecidas. Ya veremos como termina esto, deséenme suerte por favor!
It was a difficult time, but I finally accepted the fact there will always be someone looking for ways to make easy money by taking advantage of others or their work. I have collected all my patience on preparing myself to fight my rights, and it is sad to see how difficult it is to get justice in cases like mine, especially if you go against large and well-established companies. We’ll see how this ends, wish me luck please!
Y en otra nota más alegre, este año pude terminar algunos proyectos :)
Al principio del año completé un patron/tutorial para hacer una pareja de zorros que resultaron mejor de lo esperado.
And on another happier note, this year I was able to finish a few projects :) At the beginning of the year I completed a pattern/tutorial to make a pair of foxes that turned out better than expected.
Durante la primavera/verano diseñé una colección de 5 bichitos muy monos todos que tenía en mi lista por casi 3 años. Incluí una mariquita, una mariposa, una libélula, un chapulín y una abejita. Este tutorial fué el trabajo más laborioso del año, ya que me tomó casi 4 meses terminarlo, pero valió la pena pues estoy muy contenta con el resultado.
During the Spring/Summer I designed a collection of 5 very cute little bugs that I had on my list for almost 3 years. I included a ladybug, a butterfly, a dragonfly, a grasshopper and a bee. This tutorial was the largest job of the year, since it took me almost 4 months to complete, but it was worth it because I am very happy with the results.
El tercer proyecto fué el de un móvil de bebé con un cordero y su nube. Este proyecto lo había empezado a principios del 2015 y por una razón u otra no había podido terminarlo. Por fin a mediados de este año tuve tiempo para ultimar los detalles del tutorial y estoy más que complacida con este trabajo.
The third project was a baby mobile with a lamb and its cloud. I started this project in early 2015 and for one reason or another had not been able to finish it. It wasn’t until the middle of 2017 that I had the time to work on the tutorial’s last details and I am more than pleased with this work.
En el 2017 también dediqué algo de tiempo para revisitar un par de tutorials. No cambié los diseños originales, sólo rehice las ilustraciones y edité algunas de las instrucciones para hacerlas más fáciles de seguir.
In 2017 I also spent some time revisiting a couple of tutorials. I did not change the original designs, I only remade the illustrations and edited some of the instructions to make them easier to follow.
Actualmente estoy trabajando en dos proyectos. El primero es un par de adornos que se suponía iba a terminar a tiempo para Navidad y el segundo trabajo es un alfiletero en forma de hongo. Los dos diseños están quedando de los más lindos y aquí les muestro un adelanto.
I am currently working on two projects. The first one is a couple of ornaments that were supposed to be ready in time for Christmas, and the second work is a mushroom-shaped pincushion. Both designs are looking very pretty and here you have a sneak peek.
Como pueden ver, el 2017 fue en general un buen año y espero seguir tan creativa y ocupada en el 2018 como lo fuí en este año si no es que más. Puede ser que no esté muy segura de qué hacer con respecto a los que copiaron mi diseño, pero de lo que si estoy bien segura es que ni ellos ni ningún otro tramposo va a despojarme de mi creatividad. Continuaré sacando a la luz mis propias ideas y diseños, mientras que ellos tendrán que ocuparse en buscar proyectos de otras personas que puedan robar y comercializar.. qué patético!!
Terminaré esta entrada diciendo que espero que este fin de año les sea muy feliz, lleno de salud y amor y que el año nuevo les traiga mucho de eso que los haga felices!!

As you can see, 2017 was in general a good year and I hope to continue being as creative and busy in 2018 as I was this year if not more. I may not be quite sure what to do regarding those who copied my design, but what I'm very sure about is that neither they nor any other crook is going to take my creativity away. I will continue to come up with my own ideas and designs, while they will have to look for other people's projects to steal and profit from.. how pathetic!
I will wrap up this post by saying that I hope the end of 2017 finds you happy, full of health and love and may 2018 bring you lots of what makes you happy!
